Framework for Process Improvement
In business of production by commissioning and business emphasizing quality of products, a maintenance status of production process critically impacts the result of the business.
For instance, in a software industry, continuous effort to quantitatively evaluate abilities of improvement of software (information systems) development process is being made. From commissioning parties' perspective, results of such evaluation is usually helpful when they determine which company to be commissioned. (It is called "CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration).")
